Reservation instructions:
To make a reservation for any of the training courses offered in the Golden Plains Region, please follow all of the instructions listed below:
1. Determine the course, date, time and location that meet your needs and schedule and make a reservation either online or by mail.
2. Online reservations
. Making a reservation online is the fastest and easiest way to make a reservation, and it is the best way to reserve your spot. Register now for training
. Each family and troop/group will have a registration account. This account can be used for training or event reservations. New accounts will he created as girls or members of the troop register for Girl Scouts. Passwords will be e-mailed to the e-mail address on file (leader for troop accounts or parents of individual girls/Juliettes) or can be requested by calling the Girl Scout Center-Wichita at (316) 684-6531 or toll-free (888) 472-3683.
. Full payment for the reservation is required and can be made by e-check, Visa or MasterCard.
. If you don't have access to the Internet, here are some options:
Computers are available at the Girl Scout Center-Wichita during office hours, Monday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Other locations such as libraries, schools and community centers may have computers you can use to access the Internet and our Web site.
3. By Mail
Complete the Training Reservation Card found at the end of the course listings and mail or bring with payment to Adult Development Manager, Girl Scout Center-Wichita, 360 Lexington Road, Wichita, Kan., 67218 . Fill in all requested information, printing clearly and legibly. One course and name per card, please.
4. You will receive a postcard, e-mail or phone call confirming your registration in the course prior to the course date. You will be informed of any materials you should bring and directions to the training site if it is different than the Girl Scout Center-Wichita.

Payment Options
1 . Checks or e-checks
You can mail a troop or individual check with your Training Reservation Card or log onto your online troop/group or family registration account and pay the balance due on your reservation by e-check. You can also mail your check along with your Training Reservation Card. All checks will he processed as e-check transactions that withdraw directly from your checking account. Make checks payable to Girl S outs (Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland after Oct. 1). By entering this information online or providing a check as payment, you authorize the Girl Scouts to process a one-time electronic funds transfer (EFT) or draft drawn on your account. If your check does not clear your bank, it will be charged back against your troop/group or family registration account along with a $30 service charge and any additional bank charges. Your reservation(s) will not be complete until this total amount is paid. Call (316) 684-6531 with any questions.
2. Credit Card or Debit Card for Family Registration Accounts Only
Log on to your online family registration account and use a credit card to pay your total balance. You may also pay by credit card in person at the Girl Scout Center-Wichita. Credit or debit cards are not approved for troop use.
3. Transfer of fees
Fees are non-refundable but may be transferred to another class. To transfer fees for Outdoor Leadership courses, cancellations must be received before the food supplies are purchased. Scholarships are available to assist with course fees. Contact Adult Development Manager Ginger Durall at (316) 684-6531, ext. 540 or toll free at (888) 472-3683 for details.

Volunteer Development and Training Information
The Girl Scout Center-Wichita offers a wide variety of learning opportunities for both new and experienced volunteers. All adults are invited to enroll in as many courses as they choose. Every consideration will be given to arranging additional courses to meet your needs.

Fees may be charged for courses that:
. provide food or other consumable materials
. provide songbooks, textbooks or booklets (for example, First Aid/CPR)
. require extensive postage for mailing of handouts and materials.

Training Recognition Action Plan
More than 30 different courses are offered for adult volunteers throughout the year. These courses are part of a recognition system called the Training Recognition Action Plan. This program gives special recognition to volunteers who complete a planned course of study to obtain a certain level of knowledge about their volunteer position in Girl Scouting.
Currently the courses are divided into five levels of certification:
•  Basic Leadership Certification: Courses for new leaders working with a troop or group.
•  Advanced Leadership Certification: The next level of training courses for leaders who have completed Basic Leadership Certification.
•  Outdoor Leadership Certification: Advanced study that focuses on the delivery of Girl Scout programs in the outdoors.
•  Progressive Leadership Certification: Training required for leaders who wish to work with a new age level of girls.
•  Administrative Leadership Certification: Training and orientation courses for adults who work with other adult volunteers to lead and manage service units, train other volunteers or plan and carry out programs and events throughout the Golden Plains region.

Who Should Attend Courses?
Registered adults may attend any course listed in this section, unless otherwise noted. Only registered Girl Scouts are covered by Girl Scout Activity Accident Insurance during adult education courses.

Where Are Classes Held?
Most classes are held at the Girl Scout Center-Wichita. To accommodate leaders and volunteers who don't live in close proximity to the Girl Scout Center-Wichita, some of the high-demand courses are also held in other areas in the region.

Cancellation of Courses
All courses with reservations for less than six people are subject to cancellation. Individuals who are registered for a course that is cancelled will he notified by phone, mail or e-mail.

If you must cancel your reservation for a course, please notify Adult Development Manager Ginger Durall as soon as possible. This may enable someone on a waiting list to attend the course.

Which Courses Should I Take?
Within the first three months of becoming a Girl Scout leader, volunteers are expected to complete the following training courses:
. Basic Online Orientation from Girl Scouts of the USA
. Basic Leadership Training
. Daisy, Brownie, Junior or Teen Girl Scout Program
. American Red Cross or American Heart Association First Aid and CPR

Additional training is required as you advance with the girls in age levels or take on different positions in Girl Scouting.

If you are:
A returning leader (changing age level).
You will need:
. Girl Scout Program for the new age level

If you are:
Planning an Out-of-Council Trip.
You will need:
. First Aid and CPR (required)
. "Prairie Passport" (formerly known as "Junior Journeys") - recommended for Junior Girl Scout leaders and Teen Girl Scout advisors

If you are:
An Organizer.
You will need:
. Troop/Group Organizer Orientation
. Making Parents Your Friends

If you are:
Part of the Service Unit Management Team.
You will need:
